Cozy Robes
On Black Friday I purchased a new robe from Topshop similar to this style and it’s my favorite thing to put on when I first wake up to nurse Benji. There’s also a cozy maternity style here. On days when I work from home and stay in my jammies all day, I am usually wearing my robe, too. It’s seriously the best way to get through this frigid cold winter.
Skin Care
Okay, I’ve shared some of these before, but that’s because I use them all year round. I usually pick lotions based on smell, but I’ve had really dry skin this winter and the other night I decided to try the Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion we use bough for Benji. It worked wonders! It’s non-scented and I put it on before bed so my skin was so milky soft the next morning.
My beauty guru gal, Lauren, introduced me to the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and it is hands down the best thing I’ve ever used for dry lips. Read this post for an incredible lip scrub to use beforehand. But I love this product and have even used a small dab on Benji’s chin where he has some dry skin from drooling. Ha.
I’m half Norwegian. Have I told you that? I strangely feel proud that this Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream uses our “secret sauce” (whatever that is), but it is the best hand cream ever. Super concentrated so you only need a dab. I think I’ve been using this since 7th grade. And if you ever get those painful cracks or splits in corners of your fingers, this lotion will help you heel quickly if used right before bed and several times during the day. I swear by it.
Another favorite introduced to me by Lauren a couple years ago is this Origins Drink-up Intensive Overnight Mask. I have dry skin even in the summer so she recommended I try this and my skin was GLOWING the next day. I’ve used it ever since and it doesn’t clog my pores. Even if I have small breakouts, I’ll just treat them with my usual acne ointment and then use this over the top. I think dry skin sometimes makes breakouts worse, so I’ve seen my blemishes heel faster when I keep my skin moisturized and happy with this stuff. It’s amazing.
Dose of Sunshine
I’ve been doing lots of photoshoots lately and I use these Kate Somerville Tanning Towelettes night before my shoots. It has a faint “sunless tanning smell” that you won’t notice until you wake up, but it’s not bad. With other sunless tanners I always wash it off the next morning, but with these I don’t feel like I have to. I just love the color and it’s super easy to apply. Sometimes I use latex gloves just to make it easier on my hands.
Warm Layers
I just purchased this free people scarf and can’t stop wearing it. Be prepared to see it all over my Instagram (worn twice already here + here). I’ve been really into knit scarves this season, but I love how soft and light this one is. Comes in multiple colors.
I am not a hat person. But I wanted to try a pom beanie so I bought this one from Free People. It’s my favorite so far. Last worn here.
When I’m not wearing slippers, I’m wearing cozy knit socks from J.Crew. I picked up a couple pairs before Christmas and may be going back for more.
Need I say anything about mittens? Can’t leave the house without them. Love this pair from Rebecca Minkoff.
Snow Boots
So I usually wear my Hunter Boots to work if it’s raining or snowing out and then change into my shoes when I get to the office (this weather is not worth ruining all my shoes!). Last week I was soo grateful I chose to wear my Hunters because I was running late to catch the train and when I got there they were still plowing the parking lot. I had to run through knee-deep trenches of snow to get to the train before it took off. I felt like a crazy person in a movie. But I made it and not an inch of me was wet. My feet were pretty cold afterwards, though, so now I understand why people buy boot socks for these.
. . .
That’s it! Those are the 5 things I’ve been loving and using every day this winter.
What are some of the everyday products you’re using? If I’m missing out on something, I neeed to know! 😉
Something tells me I need to pick up one of those warm robes!
