A few weeks ago, we finally braved the afternoon heat and took Benji to Utah’s Hogle Zoo. He’s in that stage of constantly running away from us and doing everything without assistance from anyone. I hate to admit, it might be time to get a leash. But when we go places where he can just lounge in his stroller, I can actually feel him relaxing and just soaking it all in.
We’ve been taking our new Baby Jogger City Select LUX stroller (an upgrade from the popular City Select stroller) everywhere (including the grocery store!) because he’s so chill and content in it. It’s easy to push one-handed if I have my hands full and super durable on any terrain — I even push it on the big lawn behind our house where we go to “let Benji off the leash,” if you know what I mean. This is my favorite stroller to-date. It has made life with a toddler so much easier (and I sweat less, even though it’s 90 degrees outside).
I loved watching him observe all the animals and the people at the Zoo. We strolled by the elephants, the birds, giraffes, you name it, and stopped for Dippin’ Dots ice cream on the way out. As new parents who are afraid to plan a “real trip” and travel with our 15-month-old, the Zoo was the perfect day trip to mix up our usual weekend routine. And having the confidence that Benji would behave and actually enjoy it himself, took all the stress out of planning it. If we could take this stroller on the airplane in place of a seat assignment, I think he’d let us fly all the way to Hawaii! (Just conjuring up more unrealistic future visions over here.)
