I played basketball all growing up, in high school and one year in college. #thanksdad
I always hated running, but thanks to my marathon-winning siblings it’s now my favorite way to exercise, even if I can’t beat them. If you hate running, just watch people as they finish (or win) a marathon and you will be inspired!
At one of my high school basketball camps, I accidentally broke my teammates nose with my forehead. She left a pretty hefty goose egg on my face, too. #sorrybrenda
I have run four half marathons to-date. Sometimes I add them up and pretend I’ve finished two full marathons. 😉
Matt and I quit playing bball one-on-one long before we were even married because I’d get too competitive and end up mad at him. He’s 6’5″, which means 80% of my shots were blocked. Grr.
Fit Friday: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me
SHOP THE LOOK:
For this week’s Fitness Friday, I thought I’d mix things up and share a few fitness-related facts you probably didn’t know about me…
For the past couple months I’ve been crazily working through one of the busiest periods of my life at my job. The lack of time and sleep has taught me to enjoy every chance I get to exercise for my physical and mostly mental health. I don’t play basketball very much anymore, but when I do, it’s FUN exercise (and I secretly enjoy being ‘one of the guys’ every now and then). I think it’s important to allow ourselves to do fun exercise as much as possible, whether dancing, playing games, reconnecting with your favorite sport, etc. Too many of us are conditioned to hate exercise–especially running–growing up because we run laps and ladders as punishment. I feel like I’m always trying to recondition my relationship with my health and body. And I think we should all do more of what we LOVE when working to improve health and fitness.
I hope you do something enjoyable for exercise this weekend! And I’d love to hear from you in the comments about the things most people don’t know about YOU.
xoxo
You look great Amanda!!

Can I just say this post has made me a faithful follower… I LOVE sports, I LOVE fashion, and I LOVE exercise. Like you and your hubby, my husband and I of 10 years can get competitive. A little healthy competition can be good… It's refreshing to see that a beautiful, stylish woman like yourself can also take it to the court as well. Major Props!!!
You made my day! Thank you, Cherie! Always love finding fellow basketball and sports lovers in the fashion world. A good reminder that we're not all the same. 😉

I love this and can't agree with you more that exercise should be fun!! I'm pretty sure my whole fitness life and self image turned around when I finally realized that and don't know why no one told me sooner:).
I just started my own blog and as I love yours, I would be delighted if you'd check it out!
