I’ve been procrastinating this post.
I wanted to think long and hard about my goals for 2015 before writing them down and making myself accountable for them. But I’m finally ready and I’ll have more to share on the specific challenges I face (and how I plan to overcome them) in future posts.
To set the tone for 2015, there are two thoughts that have been consuming my mind over the holidays:
  1. Make the decision to make a change. If you haven’t gotten excited about it yet, you haven’t fully committed to the decision.
  2. Never give up on a goal because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.
So, leading with fitness, here are my goals for 2015:
  • Follow Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide 1.0 workout and meal plan (starting Jan. 5, 2015, ending Mar. 30, 2015).
  • Prep meals each week on Sundays and Wednesdays. Never miss a meal prep session.
  • Go to bed each night by 11 p.m. (this is a tough one, but I never get enough sleep).
  • Drink 1 gallon of water each day.
  • Reach 10k steps on Fitbit each day.
  • No chocolate, candy or desserts in January. Then once per week with a “free day” starting February.
  • Spend a few minutes each day doing something that encourages a positive mindset (e.g., read a few paragraphs from a favorite fitness book or audio book, watch an inspiring YouTube video, skim through a favorite fitness IG account, read non-fitness related books that help maintain positive thinking).
  • Eat at least one serving of vegetables per day, increasing to 2-4 servings per day in February.
  • Focus on building the new, not fighting the old.
  • Read 6+ books (1 per 2 months).
  • Learn to cook something new at least once per month in 2015.
  • Print and place this list in several places (bedroom, car, work desk, etc.) as a constant reminder.
  • Make new goals along the way.
Now I’m dying to hear what your goals are. Anyone planning to do the Kayla Itsines challenge on Jan. 5?! I’ve created a separate IG account to document my progress so I’ll share that with you soon if you’re interested in following along.
Thanks for reading. Happy New Year!

A lot of great goals and some of them are on my "goal list" as well, but two most important things are the first two thoughts which you wrote before your goals. Make a decision to follow your dreams and goals and then work as much and as long as it's necessary to get them come true.
Good luck with all of your goals and I hope that 2015 will be an amazing year for you!

    • Hey Natalie! Thanks so much for reading my blog. I will definitely share the books I read throughout the year. I'm still finishing Pride and Prejudice (and let's be honest, I'll probably read it again). The books I read to help me stay positive are: Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, Choose to Lose, Body for Life (audio book), Taming Your Gremlin.

Glad you're enjoying the blog world! I'll stop by and say hi! XO

  4. These are great goals! I haven´t really set any, although I have been thinking about it a lot. Some of mine would be: make daily salads for when I´m in classes at University and to snack in between and during the day, learn to make different salad recipes, save money and pay back any debts to my mum, go to gym classes at least 2 a week, keep my home (especially kitchen cabinets) more organized, oh and being in bed by 11pm is also one. Hmmm I reckon I should write a blog post on this now, that way I can remember and look back at it. Good luck with yours!

    • Yes! Definitely write a post about it. That is the only way I've been able to remember mine, too. 😉 Love your goals! Good luck!

  5. I'm starting Kayla's 1.0 workout tomorrow too and definitely think the meal prep and clean eating will be the toughest part! Good luck to you!

    • Hi Megan! How are you liking Kayla's #bbg? The ab workouts are crazy hard, but I love how quick and simple the workouts are. Meal prep hasn't been too bad for me yet. Just have to stay focused! XO

    • Thanks, Kaley! I love my Fitbit. I was addicted to it when I first got it (a year ago). The key to staying motivated is to connect with others who use a Fitbit because you can challenge each other and keep it interesting/competitive via the app.

  9. Love your goals! While I have some big overall goals for the year, I've decided to do month by month resolutions this year. I hope this makes me more accountable. 🙂

    • That is so smart! I've heard about that helping when the big goals get overwhelming (or seem so far away). Even smaller weekly goals help them feel more attainable. Good luck to you! Thanks for reading!

Love these! I want to start Kayla Itsines' guides too and what better day to start than today! I purchased them last year and never got past week one so I'm giving it another go round this year. Best of luck with all of these!

    • Oh, I am the same. Purchased the guides last fall and didn't make it past week two. But I have no idea why because they're so simple and easy to do from home. This time we'll both make it through to the end! Go us!

    • Yay! I am feeling so encouraged with (re)starting Kayla's guides! It's nice to have so many girls facing the same challenge. Good luck to you! I promise to share my fitness IG account soon. Need to get past feeling sheepish. 😉

I love these goals! I have Kayla's BBG and those workouts are so tough, but so good! I'm not sure if I'm going to follow her plan that started yesterday 100%, but I'm planning to mix at least two of her workouts in with my other workouts per week starting this week (I get burned out quick if I don't mix it up a lot). I love everything you said though… I too am trying to eat more veggies, drink more water, and cut out sweets. I love your ideas about reading and doing something positive every day too. AND I want a fitbit so badly!

Loved this post and love that you incorporate fitness 🙂

    • Thanks, Jacy! I am a fan of mixing and matching workouts, too. Sometimes you gotta just do what works best for you and keeps you interested and challenged. Let's kill it on the water, veggies and fewer sweets! I've been without sugar for two weeks now (maybe my longest streak ever) and I feel amazing!

      Keep in touch! XO
