One of my absolute favorite neutral outfits is white-on-white. It’s so classy, however, I don’t wear it often because it takes the right combination of white pieces for me to really feel confident while making such a statement. After playing around in my closet a bit, I discovered it really comes down to 3 things…
- Add textures – An all-white look demands textures to add dimension and interest. I did this with several elements in this look above (my knit scarf, embellished shoes, moto jeans, etc.). Something as basic as white jeans and a white silk blouse would also work really well while remaining simple.
- Think monochrome – Adding harmonious shades of white is an easy way to make an all-white outfit more unique. For example, incorporating cream and ivory tones with bright white will add subtle dimension while warmer hues like tans, browns and golds will add depth.
- Limit one colorful accessory – White-on-white is meant to look effortless and classy, so don’t distract from it’s simplicity by adding too many colorful accessories. I’d limit it to one. In my outfit above, I wanted the clothing to speak louder than the bag, so I chose a more muted pastel pink. Colored shoes and a bold lip are also great ways to add a “pop of color” (yes, I just said that in 2017).
Do you wear white-on-white very often? What are your tips?
I can’t wait to try this look again in warmer months, leveraging these great ideas from Song of Style.
Happy Wednesday!

Thank you for the tips. I love dressing all-white, but it’s hard to have some variation sometimes. The texture tip is a great idea.
