Yep, that’s my cute hubs! (I was so excited to involve him in this post.)
A local (Utah) designer I know, HYDE Leather Co., is running a Kickstarter campaign featuring these incredible genuine leather bags and asked if I’d help spread the word. If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter, it’s a pretty powerful platform that allows people to share their ideas and innovations with the world in hopes of reaching enough interest and support to be able to sell their products across the globe.
HYDE Leather bags, wallets and such were designed with the idea that if someone asked you where your bag was from, you could tell them it was vintage – like from your grandpa’s closet – and they’d believe you. It is nearly impossible to find quality leather bags like these because they just don’t make them like this anymore. My favorite things about them:
The unique details in the designs (vintage stamped nickels for the buttons and the styling of the pockets / belt straps);
The feel of the genuine hyde leather; and
The durability (I was lugging my laptop and heavy books around in that bag!).
Plus, the older it gets, the better it looks–a classic trait of authentic leather.
One last note, this designer has been approached by several retailers (some that I shop frequently) that wanted to sell these bags for double-triple the current Kickstarter price (that’s more than a Tory Burch bag!). The designer wanted to keep these as-is because he knows how it feels to be looking for a timeless, genuine leather bag that doesn’t cost upwards of $600 (part of the reason he decided to design his own).
HYDE Leather Co. is only on Kickstarter through Thursday this week, so you should definitely head over and check out all the items available before it’s too late. I know it’s early, but I think these are great ideas for Father’s Day gifts (or Mother’s Day if your mom loves artsy-style bags/accessories… these remind me of my beloved Madewell)!
Feel free to ask any questions about these bags in the comments.
You can also learn more by watching the video on their Kickstarter campaign page HERE.
Have a great Wednesday!
