How’s Your Self Talk?

Aloha from Maui! We finally arrived and before I disconnect for the week, I wanted to share a quick post to kickoff my new “Self Talk” series. Or perhaps it should be called “Selfie” Talk (there will certainly be a lot of those going forward).
I was cleaning out the many photos on my iPhone recently and came across tons of #mirrorshots and #selfies that I’ve never shared (this one is from last fall in the Anthropologie dressing room). And then I thought about how much time we ladies spend in front of the mirror. Not a bad thing by any means, but there’s something that happens between us and our mirrors–a whole lotta self talk. What we see reflected in front of us, and the words in our heads that quickly follow, can either fill us with confidence or total self-defeat. Because confidence is obviously the better feeling, I’d like to share some thoughts and tips going forward about how to maintain confidence when life tries to drag us down (even if it’s not related to your appearance).
It’s all about managing your self talk, what you tell yourself about yourself, following an emotional trigger.
As one of my favorite quotes by Eleanor Roosevelt goes…
“Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.”

  3. I love this. In this world of fashion it is so hard to not be hard on ourselves. Thinking our pictures don't look as good as that other fashion blogger, or we aren't as stylish as they are etc. We tell ourselves we are pretty enough, our hair isn't perfect enough etc. We lie to ourselves. I'm excited to follow along for this series!

    • You hit it right on the head! Exactly what this series will be about. We spend too much time feeling bad about life when there's so much to feel good about if we would just manage our self talk and keep a healthy perspective. Thanks for commenting, Sierra! xo
